Michael Galivin
STATION TO STATION will be Michael's third full-length play to be produced. The first two, New Gold Dream and The Ocean Star, were both produced by the Auckland Theatre Company; New Gold Dream featuring in the Listener's annual 'best-of' list (for new writers) and The Ocean Star resulting in Michael winning last year's Bruce Mason Playwriting award. He has had had two short stories published in different anthologies of New Zealand writing: There Is No Hell appearing in the Emily Perkins edited The Picnic Virgin, and Falling Up featuring in Boys Own Stories, edited by Graeme Lay.
Michael is also an actor, being the longest-serving cast member on the New Zealand television staple Shortland Street, where he plays Dr Chris Warner. A graduate of Victoria University and Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School, Michael has acted extensively on the stage, including roles in the New Zealand theatre classics Ladies Night, Foreskin's Lament, and Blue Sky Boys.
